This is the character I made for my GAM340 submission, I have learnt a ton during this project. I did run out of time a bit at the end so I wasn't able to finish everything I wanted to but I'm really pleased with what I managed to get done. I used many methods that I had never explored before, for the face I originally went through my usual process of sculpting skin pores manually in ZBrush then baked it and put it into Marmoset, I then decided to try out using Textures XYZ and I'm so glad I did. I've been meaning to try and use them for a while but never got round to it, I also ended up transferring everything to Maya for rendering rather than Marmoset which gave way better results but did require a bit of getting used to. A lot of this project was spent on just the face alone trying to get the shader and maps correct which is one of the reasons I ran a bit short on time. Everything on the character was modelled in ZBrush and then unwrapped in Maya and textured in Substance Painter. I explored Substance Painter a lot more than I have done in the past using different smart materials mixed with filters and various paint layers, I also imported some alphas I made in Photoshop to use as masks for various patterns on the armour. This was my first time trying to use XGen properly for the facial hair and hair, unfortunately this is one of the things that I ran out of time for a bit so although I think the facial hair turned out nicely, the hair itself could definitely use a lot more work after submission. The model itself, although I have retopologised somewhat, especially the face, I have left fairly high poly this time rather than making everything game ready and baking it all. This allowed me to be a lot more free in how I made it and meant that it looks higher quality than if it was, I will be uploading the game ready characters I am making for my teams game once I have finished them. I am still unsure about which industry I want to go into in the future, I enjoy making characters with either method, they both have there positives and negatives so it's something I need to keep exploring in the coming months.
